Bridget Tate | HBA Board Member & Chair of The Thirty
Capital City Lighting

What is your favorite thing about being an HBA member?

Getting to know other members and working together to support our industry.

What has been your favorite project at your company?

I am working on a renovated home from the 1800’s that is going to be a SHOWSTOPPER. This home, located in West Baton Rouge, has been a labor of love for the homeowner and designer and getting to curate lighting for such a phenomenal project has been exciting.

When you sit down at a bar, what are you ordering?

Depends on the mood. Either a Paloma, an Old Fashioned, or a shot of Tequila.

What is your favorite HBA|GBR event? Why?

The Parade of Homes is always a great event. Getting to work with so many peers I admire is amazing and seeing the finished product is always a treat!

What was your first job?

Working for my Dad at the State National Building downtown. I did filing.

What is one industry-related thing you learned in the past month?

FEMA is implementing changes to the National Flood Insurance Program that will affect our industry and we need to educate each other and ourselves to stay in the conversation.

In your opinion, what is the most important innovation in the industry in the last 5 years?

The advancements in LED Lighting are impressive. As the technology improves, the prices have decreased. Using less energy and distributing less heat than an incandescent bulb, LEDs save money on electrical costs through less energy use due to lower wattages and less heat produced for your AC to compensate for.

What are three words that describe you?

Positive, Dedicated, Confident.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Just be yourself.

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

Too hard – dead, living, fictional? I’ll take the above advice and be me, but in a tropical location. “Vacation Bridget.”
