HBA Gumbo Cookoff

HBA Gumbo Cookoff Team Information

The HBA Gumbo Cookoff will be held on Thursday, November 7, at Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery.

Chefs/Teams will cook gumbo on site and will be stationed outside under a tented area (must have your own burner setup!).

Chefs/Teams are to prepare enough gumbo for – one full serving for guest judges tasting and for 60+ event attendees to taste each gumbo in a small 2oz bowl.

We ask gumbo chefs/teams to provide items needed to cook the gumbo – Pots, knifes, cutting boards and ingredients, etc. The HBA will provide all bowls, spoons, and rice for tasting.

Judges will score gumbos based on presentation, originality, and taste. Gumbo cookoff attendees will also be able to sample each team’s gumbo and vote for their people’s choice.

There is a $250 Team Entry Fee.

Gumbo Cookoff Agenda:

  • 9:00AM – Chefs Arrive
  • 12:30 PM – Gumbo Ready for Judges
  • 1:00 PM – Gumbo Judging Begins
  • 1:30 PM – Cookoff opens to Public
  • 2:30 PM – People’s Choice Voting Begins
  • 3:00 PM – Announcement of Winners
  • 4:00 PM – Cookoff Closes
