The Home Builders Foundation (HBF), is the charitable, philanthropic arm of HBA, whose mission is to raise funds to assist families and children in need. HBF was founded in 2002 and has raised over $22 million for local charities.
In December 2022, HBF celebrated a lifetime giving milestone of $1 million to the Our Lady of the Lake Foundation in support of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.
Acknowledging our industry’s dedication to our community, the Home Builders Foundation has earned distinction as an Outstanding Philanthropic Service Organization, recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Parade of Homes Beneficiary
Parade of Homes is a large community-based event created to promote the local housing industry and educate our community on responsible, innovative home building.
Parade gives consumers a unique opportunity to meet builders and vendors, uncover area communities, and tour homes from a wide array of price points and styles.
Each year, all general admission ticket proceeds from the Parade of Homes are donated to the Home Builders Foundation of Greater Baton Rouge.
The 2024 Parade of Homes will be held on April 20-21 and April 27-28 from 1-5PM.
The Lakes at Harveston Foundation House
In the heart of our community, a transformative project is underway – The Lakes at Harveston Foundation House. This initiative is more than construction; it’s a commitment to building homes, enriching communities, and changing lives.
The Foundation House, located in The Lakes at Harveston, HBF Visionary Donor, and crafted by Dupree Construction Company, HBF Founder Donor, is serving a noble purpose – to support the Gardere Community Christian School. The school is an impactful institution in the Gardere Community serving families and children in need.

The Home Builders Foundation (HBF), a charitable, philanthropic arm of HBA, was founded in 2002 and has raised over $22 million for local charities. HBF has built dozens of homes to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, and Capital Area United Way. HBF also partnered with Homes for Our Troops to build an accessible home for a local veteran who was injured during service in Afghanistan.
With a Community Development Block grant from the City of Baton Rouge and Parish of East Baton Rouge, the Home Builders Foundation and Home Builders Institute have partnered to provide career training in the building trade to at-risk teens. Graduates earned a certificate to prove to employers that they have the skills they need to be successful on the job.
The Home Builders Association has also made great strides in workforce development in Louisiana. Through partnerships with programs like the Louisiana Workforce Commission, BRCC Workforce Development, and the LCTCS Workforce Alignment, HBA works to grow the construction industry through education and resources.
