HBA members receive clarity on EBR Stormwater Inspections

HBA/NAHB official letter requests to defer Livingston Drainage Impact Fees

The Home Builders Association of Greater Baton Rouge (HBA|GBR), supported by National Association
of Home Builders (NAHB), requested the Livingston Parish Council deny or defer the proposed Drainage Impact Fee Ordinance.  On Monday, a letter was sent to Livingston Parish Councilmembers and Parish President Layton Ricks. It outlined feedback received from members and parish stakeholders, and makes clear points as to why this item should be deferred for additional consideration.

Impact fees are fees collected by a local government and are used as a tool to pay for new growth.
Builders and developers pay a share of the impact their development has on the community’s public
facilities; however, impact fees are ultimately paid by the purchaser.

The council deferred the ordinance with new date to be determined.

September Single-Family Permit Gains

Over the first nine months of 2021, the total number of single-family permits issued year-to-date (YTD) nationwide reached 864,184.
