What is your favorite thing about being an HBA member?
I enjoy the continuing education classes particularly the recent series with Mike Lebas. He brings a unique perspective as an engineer that is extremely helpful to me as a builder. I also enjoy meeting other members every time I am present at an event. Sometimes, I learn just as much from talking with other members as I do from the presentation itself.
What has been your favorite project at your company?
Our custom home on Burrow Road that was completed last year.
What is one industry-related thing your learned in the past month?
I enjoyed learning about the reasons behind different foundation and framing issues from Mike Lebas’s recent presentation.
What was your first job?
I cut grass starting in 7th grade and continued to run that business until about half way through college.
When you sit down at a bar, what are you ordering?
Juicfer.
What has been your favorite HBA|GBR event? Why?
I enjoy the Parade of Homes every year. It gives me a chance to see how other builders are raising the bar year after year.
In your opinion, what is the most important innovation in the industry in the last five years?
Home automation systems.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Discipline equals freedom.
