REDUCE YOUR RISKS

INTERESTED IN LEARNING HOW TO REDUCE LONG-TERM RISKS FOR YOUR FAMILY, HOME, AND COMMUNITY?

Here in Louisiana, we are often exposed to hazards or disasters – flooding, hurricanes, and wildfires, just to name a few – hazard mitigation techniques can help minimize the resulting impacts on your family, property, and surrounding community.

The Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness initiative, Red Stick Ready: Reduce Your Risks, offers a wealth of information on hazard mitigation strategies that can help you reduce recovery costs, save lives, and minimize the impact of disasters on your home.

Learn more about hazard mitigation, community-wide mitigation efforts, and how to reduce your risks at brla.gov/reduceyourrisks.

FUTUREBR UPDATE

The 5-Year Update to FUTUREBR, the Comprehensive Master Plan for our city-parish has begun. All community members are encouraged to participate in this plan update process.

Below are a listing of workshops community members can participate in. Visit the FUTUREBR 5-Year Update project page (brla.gov/futurebr-5-year-update) to get updates as the process moves through. You can sign up for updates, check workshop locations, review proposed edits to FUTUREBR elements, and the Future Land Use Map.

Please complete the FUTUREBR Update survey to help make our city a better place to live, work, and play. The survey can be found here: brla.gov/futurebr/survey.

The results of this survey will be analyzed and documented for use in crafting the updates to FUTUREBR. Community participation is a valuable resource. The survey shouldn’t take any more than 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
