What is your favorite thing about being an HBA member?
Active engagement and constant knowledge stream from people from multiple different industries with decades of experience. It has fast tracked our success and our understanding of the different facets of the construction industry.
What has been your favorite project at your company?
As we are expanding, my business partner and I are beginning to see an influx of design projects. I believe my favorite thing isn’t the actual project itself but more of the design process. The creativity and passion she delivers during each project is inspiring.
What is one industry-related thing your learned in the past month?
People are here to help. Genuinely here to help and make a difference.
What was your first job?
When I was 10 years old, my mother got me a part time job at the local seafood restaurant down the street. I would ride my bike there after school and on weekends to sort and clean crawfish making $3.50 an hour.
When you sit down at a bar, what are you ordering?
I joined a local brewmaster club and really enjoy trying different styles of beer.
What has been your favorite HBA|GBR event? Why?
The NAHB International Builders Expo in Las Vegas. My eyes were like a deer in a headlight the entire event from the educational events to just the shear size of the event overall. I think we visited only an 1/8 of the vendors at the show and it gave us a different perspective.
In your opinion, what is the most important innovation in the industry in the last five years?
AI – we are big on technology and the different ways to implement it. I believe it is a great assistive tool in business.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Discipline equals freedom.
