HBA Gumbo Cookoff Team Information
Chefs/Teams will cook gumbo on site and will be stationed within the Ferguson Showroom on induction, gas burners, or outside tented area (must have your own burner to be placed outside).
Chefs/Teams are to prepare enough full servings for 10-12 people (from experience a large pot of gumbo is plenty for judges and up to 60 people to taste). We ask gumbo chefs/teams to provide items needed to cook the gumbo – Pots, knifes, cutting boards and ingredients, etc. The HBA will provide all bowls, spoons, and rice for tasting.
Judges will score gumbos based on presentation, originality, and taste. Gumbo cookoff attendees will also be able to sample each team’s gumbo and vote for their people’s choice.
Gumbo Cookoff Agenda:
- 9:00AM – Chefs arrive
- 1:30 PM – Cookoff opens to Public
- 2:15 PM – Gumbo Judging begins
- 3:15 PM – Announcement of Winners
- 4:00 PM – Cook-off Closes
